As a member of the renowned Staple Singers, she played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of gospel, soul and R&B. Hailed by NPR as “one of America’s defining voices of freedom and peace,” she is the kind of once-in-a-generation artist whose impact on music and culture would be difficult to overstate.

At this concert, expect to hear Staple Singers classics such as “Respect Yourself,” “Heavy Makes You Happy” and “I’ll Take You There,” covers such as Talking Heads’ “Slippery People” and Funkadelic’s “Can You Get to That” and songs from Staples’ recent collaborations with Ben Harper and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy.
